Gmail has been my webmail client of choice for the past year or so. But thanks in part to Jeremy's comments on the new Yahoo! Mail and his recent webmail-only challenge, I figured I would give Yahoo! mail a shot. For the most part, I am agnostic about email providers -- I simply want to use the one with the best interface, the best spam filters, etc. All I need to be able to do is change the "From" address and be able to set up conditional forwards.
Unless I am missing something, it looks like I am out of luck, though. There seems to be no way to change the "From" address. You can set up a Personal Address, but you need to turn over control of your entire domain to do this, not just the MX records.
Fortunately, I have been a Yahoo! user since they first started giving out accounts. My username is "dclinton", and I would be happy to use that as my yahoo.com email address. But unfortunately, I set my primary Yahoo email address to something stupid (remember, this was something like 10 years ago), and it can't be changed, even to your own Yahoo! account name.
Not surprisingly, the email I sent to customer service went unanswered. I can only imagine the volume of email they receive, so that's not unexpected. But if any Yahoo! employees read this and can help me out, I would be much obliged. And thus, assuming Yahoo! Mail is as good as the advance hype, would also become another evangelist of your Web 2.0 services...
