The Rivington Redirector

Announcing the Rivington Redirector, a free, open-source, web-services-enabled, AJAX-enabled, URL shortening tool.

Actually, it isn’t that impressive, especially considering how sites like TinyURL have been doing this forever. Heck, even I wrote a redirector before.

But this one is based on top of Essex, the toolkit in the new project, so it was a fun Saturday morning hack. Plus it incorporates my co-workers Devin and Ruben’s neat idea to give each short URL an optional hint to help you remember where the URLs point. (Which reminds me that I need to fix the version we run internally.)

You can use it all you want — via the homepage, via the web services, or via the source code. Please keep in mind that this was just a quick job — I’m sure the code could be greatly improved.

To visit, just go to:

Enjoy!
