Vox, the coolest blogging/social network release of the year, is also one of the OpenSearch friendliest.
Byrne Reese, platform hacker extraordinaire over at Six Apart has posted a detailed article on how Vox is using OpenSearch as part of its platform API. Not only is the Vox implementation of OpenSearch text-book perfect, it also uses Yahoo’s Media RSS extensions for rich data types. This is precisely what I had hoped to see when drafting OpenSearch to be an extensible and open format.
Congrats to Anil and Byrne for not only creating a fantastic product with an elegant user experience, but also one built on such solid technical foundations.

I actually sent the person who has “dewitt” at gmail.com a note asking to buy the address from them. : )
What is even weirder is that it was already taken, seeing as how I must have been in the first several thousand to sign up.

Just to give credit where it’s due, Tatsuhiko Miyagawa on our team did all the heavy lifting here, and Ben Trott was the voice for it. Byrne and I have just been working on getting the word out and helping get our docs up. :)
We’ll be talking a bit more about this, but we figure if we can get information out as early as possible, it gives us more time to get good feedback from the community. Thanks for the kind words!
