The Eyes Have It

I'm sorry I haven't been posting lately. At first I thought it might be because I must be starting to develop a distaste for computers in general. By the end of each day I simply felt so fatigued staring at a monitor that I couldn't get excited about writing.

But no, it was simply that I was squinting at the screen so much that I really was getting physically tired. Thus this morning I went and had my eyes examined for the first time in my life. The doctor confirmed that I could still read small text, but that I needed to really force my eyes to focus. And hour after hour of squinting was putting a real toll on the muscles around the eyes, leading to the fatigue.

I was given a prescription for lenses and picked out a good pair of frames for reading glasses. (Pictures to follow next week.) I suppose I was just being stubborn, somehow thinking that I could make it into my 30's without needing glasses. Then again, maybe they'll make me look smart.

More posts to follow next week. I have a lot of writing on hold because of this, and I can't wait to be able to enjoy working and looking at the screen again.
