In an update to the rather popular Conglomerate Cheat Sheet, the list of corporate holdings for each of the major media companies has been reworked to reflect recent acquisitions and takeovers.
The past six months have not seen any truly major moves — the same handful of companies still hold almost all of the worldwide media assets. It is useful to take another glance at the structure and simply to realize that single companies can control the production, distribution, advertising, etc., of the movies, music, and news you consume. In fact, just 13 corporations generated almost half a trillion dollars of sales in 2003.
